Escalating Violence: Israeli Airstrikes Claim 14 Lives in Gaza as Military Operations Intensify

Israeli military strikes across the Gaza Strip resulted in the deaths of at least 14 Palestinians on Tuesday, with medics reporting that at least 10 of the fatalities occurred in a single airstrike on a house in Gaza City. The strikes come as Israeli tanks advance deeper into the western area of Rafah, near the border with Egypt.

According to medics, the airstrike on the house in the Daraj suburb of Gaza City destroyed the building and caused damage to nearby residences. In addition to the casualties from the Gaza City strike, four other individuals were killed in two separate airstrikes in the town of Beit Lahiya, located in the northern part of the enclave.

As of now, there has been no immediate comment from the Israeli military regarding the strikes.

Ground Offensive Forces Displacement of Families

In Rafah, Israeli tanks have pushed further into the western area of Mawasi, which is designated as a humanitarian zone. Residents reported that heavy fire from the advancing tanks forced dozens of families seeking shelter in the area to flee northward toward Khan Younis.

The ongoing conflict began on October 7, 2023, when the Palestinian militant group Hamas launched an incursion into Israel, resulting in the deaths of approximately 1,200 people, predominantly civilians, and the abduction of over 250 hostages taken back to Gaza, according to Israeli authorities.

In response, Israel initiated a comprehensive air and land offensive that has reportedly resulted in the deaths of more than 45,000 people, primarily civilians, according to figures provided by authorities in the Hamas-run Gaza Strip. The military campaign has led to widespread displacement, with nearly the entire population of Gaza forced to evacuate, leaving much of the enclave in ruins.
