The Duke and Duchess of Westminster have officially embarked on a new phase in their lives known as parenthood. The Duke, Hugh Grosvenor, and the Duchess, Olivia Grosvenor, welcomed their first child, a baby daughter Cosima Florence Grosvenor, in London on Sunday, July 27.
The news was shared via a statement obtained by People, which reads, “The Duke and Duchess of Westminster are thrilled to announce the birth of their baby daughter.” The announcement added, “Both the Duchess and Cosima are doing well." It continued, "The Duke and Duchess now look forward to spending this special time together as a family."
According to People, Prince William is likely to be named godfather to the Duke and Duchess of Westminster's baby daughter. Hugh has already got close ties to the royals, having been godfather to Prince George and also to Prince Harry's son, Prince Archie. Hugh and Olivia were spotted in April congratulating William and George on a goal at an Aston Villa match, a highly publicized outing just after the couple had announced they were pregnant with their first child.
The birth of baby Cosima Florence Grosvenor occurs just over a year after the Duke and Duchess of Westminster's glamorous high-society wedding at Chester Cathedral on June 7, 2024. Hugh, 33, is Britain's richest person under 40 and counts among the richest in the nation as a father. Formerly known as the nation's most eligible bachelor, he has close connections with the royal family. He is also the godson of King Charles, and his mother is godmother to Prince William, who was an usher at the wedding of the couple.
