Donald Trump’s Big Day: Rings NYSE Bell Amid Time “Person Of The Year” Buzz

Donald Trump, president-elected is set to ring the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) on Thursday. The event coincides with speculation that he will be named Time magazine’s “Person of the Year,” according to sources familiar with the matter.

While Time has not officially commented on the selection, the anticipated honor would mark Trump’s second time receiving the title, the first being in 2016 following his election as president.

Trump, who built his career as a prominent real estate mogul in New York before entering politics, frequently touted stock market performance as a metric of his administration’s success. His return to the iconic trading floor underscores his connection to the financial world, which has so far responded positively to his campaign.

The NYSE bell-ringing ceremony, a prestigious tradition, typically honors corporate milestones or significant achievements. Over the years, it has also been extended to public figures like Ronald Reagan, Nelson Mandela, and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Time previously named Democratic President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris as its “Persons of the Year” in 2020 after they defeated Trump in the election. Last year, pop sensation Taylor Swift earned the honor.

Politico first reported on the potential selection and Trump’s NYSE plans, sparking widespread anticipation ahead of the announcements.
