BNM Organizes Debate Over Balochistan’s Human Rights Issue In UK Parliament

The Baloch National Movement (BNM) organized a debate in the British Parliament to spotlight the ongoing human rights abuses in Balochistan. The event, held on International Human Rights Day, was hosted by Member of Parliament John McDonnell and centered on the severe repression faced by the Baloch people under the Pakistani state.

Speakers at the debate called for urgent international action to address human rights violations, including enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and other forms of state repression. Participants stressed the need for global intervention to end these atrocities and deliver justice to the Baloch nation.

The event featured several prominent figures, including MPs John McDonnell, Jeremy Corbyn, and Richard Burgon, alongside BNM Chairman Naseem Baloch, Sami Deen Baloch, Sabiha Baloch, Naseer Dashti, Faheem Baloch, and Saleem Elahi Baloch.

John McDonnell, who hosted the event, emphasized that while the UK maintains close ties with Pakistan, it must not ignore the grave violations occurring in Balochistan. He urged his fellow MPs to advocate for justice for the Baloch people.

BNM Chairman Naseem Baloch shared his harrowing experience as a two-time victim of enforced disappearance by the Pakistani military. He recounted his survival in torture cells and stated that his unwavering belief in the independence of Balochistan kept him alive. He highlighted the widespread nature of the oppression, revealing that thousands of Baloch men and women have suffered similar atrocities.

BNM Foreign Secretary Faheem Baloch spoke about the lasting trauma experienced by the families of enforced disappearance victims, reaffirming the Baloch people’s determination to achieve freedom despite relentless violence.

Naseer Dashti, another BNM leader, addressed the illegal annexation of Balochistan and criticized China’s role in the region through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He called for international accountability for the actions of both Pakistan and China in Balochistan.

Sami Deen Baloch, a leading member of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), shared his personal struggle following his father’s disappearance. He highlighted the dangers families face when seeking justice and called for international solidarity to combat the ongoing oppression in Balochistan.

Sabiha Baloch, another BYC leader, shed light on the deprivation of basic rights in Balochistan and the violent suppression of peaceful activists, often facilitated by Chinese financial involvement. She called for an international fact-finding mission to investigate and address the region’s human rights violations.

Saleem Elahi Baloch shared the emotional story of his brother, Zahid Baloch, a student leader who was forcibly disappeared. He made a heartfelt plea to the international community to help end the pervasive practice of enforced disappearances in Balochistan.

Jeremy Corbyn MP emphasized the importance of raising global awareness about the atrocities in Balochistan and fostering solidarity with oppressed communities worldwide. He urged the international community to take a stand against these injustices.
