Around 35 Palestinians Killed In Latest Israeli Airstrikes Across Gaza Strip

At least 35 Palestinians, including women and children, were killed in Israeli airstrikes early Thursday, according to the Palestinian news agency WAFA. The bombings targeted various locations across the Gaza Strip, including residential buildings and shelters for displaced individuals.

In Gaza City’s al-Jalaa Street, a residential building was bombed, killing seven people, including women and children. Another 15 were killed when Israeli airstrikes hit a shelter for displaced people near the Nuseirat camp in central Gaza. A further 13 people died in Rafah city in the south after an Israeli strike targeted a group providing aid, leaving several others injured, some critically.

A separate attack in Khan Younis, near Rafah, wounded security personnel tasked with protecting aid shipments. While there was no immediate response from the Israeli military, the ongoing conflict has led to severe instability, with Hamas forces battling armed gangs hijacking aid trucks in the region.

The war, which began after Hamas militants attacked Israeli communities in October 2023, has devastated Gaza. More than 44,800 people have died, and much of Gaza’s population of 2.3 million has been displaced. Despite numerous ceasefire attempts, including mediation efforts by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States, peace talks have stalled.

In a significant move, the United Nations General Assembly recently voted for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, though the resolution is non-binding. The US, Israel, and a few other countries opposed the vote. The situation continues to worsen, with global calls for a halt to the violence intensifying.
