A touching love story has emerged in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, where Fay Gable, 89, and Robert Wenrich, 94, are planning to remarry almost fifty years after their divorce. The duo, who separated in 1975, will say their vows on December 8 in Denver, Pennsylvania, in the presence of their family, which has since grown to include children, grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and twin great-great-grandchildren.
“They’re like two teenagers in love. They do everything together,” revealed their youngest daughter, Carol Smith, during an interview with Lancaster Online. Fay and Robert’s love story began in the early 1950s when they were introduced through family links. Robert, who was a close friend of Fay’s older sibling, once stated, “I’m going to marry her someday. ” This sparked a passionate romance, marriage in 1951, and the establishment of a large, affectionate family.
However, life took a different direction, leading to the couple’s divorce in 1975. Both remarried and spent many years with their new spouses until their partners passed away. Despite their separation, Fay and Robert kept a friendly relationship, frequently coming together at family events. This connection ultimately reignited their feelings for one another.
Reflecting on their reunion, Carol expressed how profoundly her father felt about Fay: “She was the first love of my life. I never thought I’d get her back. And now that I did, I’m not wasting any time. ” Robert added, “I think we’ll be good now for the next couple of years,” conveying his hope for their renewed journey together.
