A 20-year-old Indian student, Harshandeep Singh, was tragically shot dead in Edmonton, Canada, on Friday. Singh, who was also working as a security guard, was found deceased after a shootout around 12:30 am. Two suspects, Evan Rain and Judith Saulteaux, both 30, were arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
Police responded to reports of gunshots at an apartment building on 107th Avenue and found Singh unresponsive in a stairwell. Despite immediate first aid and EMS treatment, he was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
A CCTV video reportedly shows one of the attackers pushing Singh down the stairs before shooting him from behind, though the authenticity of the footage has not been confirmed by the police.
Authorities have stated that no other individuals are believed to be involved, and a weapon was recovered during the arrests. The motive behind the murder has not yet been determined, and an autopsy of the victim is scheduled for Monday.
