A unique wedding is set to take place today in Rohtak, Haryana, where Rohtak DC Ajay Kumar will perform the Kanyadaan ceremony for a 19-year-old girl. The district administration will welcome the wedding procession. The groom for the girl was selected through an application and interview process.

Karishma, who grew up in the ashram, will be marrying Nikku, a young man from Rankapura, Rohtak. Yesterday, after the Mehndi ceremony, the Haldi ceremony was performed. Now, the district administration has decorated Bal Bhawan for the wedding. The district administration will send off Karishma to her in-laws’ house by performing Kanyadaan.

The process of choosing a groom for Karishma was unique. Mahila Ashram in-charge Sushma mentioned that efforts for Karishma’s marriage were initiated by DC Ajay Kumar. An advertisement was placed in the newspaper, resulting in 8 to 10 applications within about 10 days.

These applicants were interviewed by a committee headed by CTM Mukund Tanwar. The boy and the girl were also made to sit face to face and talk. Among the shortlisted boys, Karishma chose Nikku as her groom. Now, Karishma is getting married to Nikku.

Nikku Gulia, a resident of Rankapura Colony, works as a supervisor in a telecom company. His father is a transporter, and his mother is a housewife. The wedding will be attended by Session Judge Neerja Kulwant Kalsan, Chairperson Asha Ahuja, Ranjita Mehta from Chandigarh, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Manju Hooda, and others.

Karishma is very happy with the marriage and expresses gratitude to the district administration, considering them as family. She acknowledges the officials’ significant role in choosing a life partner and is excited to have a wedding according to traditional customs. Karishma mentions that she has been living in Bal Bhawan for 4 years. Before this, she stayed in the Child Welfare Council Bahadurgarh. She shares that no one has come to meet her since childhood. The district administration found one of her Aadhar cards, which had the address of Rohtak, leading her to come to Rohtak. She stayed here and studied until the 12th grade.
