Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has disclosed assets valued at around Rs 4.76 crore, marking an increase of Rs 1.59 crore from 2021 to 2024, according to his election affidavit. Sonowal submitted his nomination papers on March 26 in Dibrugarh as a BJP candidate for the Dibrugarh parliamentary constituency. The affidavit reveals that his movable assets amount to Rs 1,64,65,258, while his immovable assets are estimated at Rs 3,11,20,000. In 2021, Sonowal’s movable assets were reported at Rs 1,14,76,394, with immovable assets valued at Rs 2,02,95,000. He disclosed having Rs 27,679 in cash and Rs 47,59,705 deposited in five bank accounts. His movable assets include shares in Oil India Limited, other investments, and gold. Immovable assets consist of agricultural and non-agricultural land, along with residential buildings. Sonowal also mentioned liabilities amounting to Rs 25,78,370 and affirmed no pending cases or criminal convictions against him.
Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi, contesting from the Jorhat parliamentary constituency, declared assets worth Rs 2.63 crore. His movable assets total Rs 38,30,796, including cash and a car, while immovable assets amount to Rs 2,25,00,000, including inherited properties in Guwahati and New Delhi. Gaurav Gogoi disclosed a case against him during a political event in Guwahati in January.
Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) candidate Lurin Jyoti Gogoi, vying for the Dibrugarh parliamentary constituency, declared assets valued at Rs 34,31,472, comprising movable and immovable assets.
