In a significant development, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to virtually distribute appointment letters to newly recruited youth, including Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Services (JKAS) officers, and compassionate appointees under erstwhile SRO-43. The event, scheduled for January 25, will also witness the launch of 75 e-buses for Jammu and the unveiling of various projects, all conducted virtually from New Delhi. As per reports, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and senior officers of the administration will be present at the Jammu Convention Centre to participate in the event.

The distribution of appointment letters is particularly noteworthy as it marks the conclusion of a prolonged wait for compassionate appointees under SRO-43. The General Administration Department (GAD) has already issued approximately 1000 orders under SRO-43. With nearly 2000 cases still pending, the government has issued a directive to clear all deserving cases.
This move aligns with the implementation of the new Compassionate Appointments Rules, effective from January 1, 2023, according to the newspaper.

In addition to the distribution of appointment letters, the virtual event will also witness the inauguration of the e-bus service in Jammu. This initiative is part of the Smart City Project, and the e-buses have been procured under a Gross Cost Contract (GCCwith TATA. TATA will operate these buses for Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL) for duration of 12 years and will be compensated based on the cost per kilometer of distance covered by these vehicles.
The virtual function by Home Minister Amit Shah will be followed by the physical distribution of job letters among the youth, marking a significant step towards fulfilling the promises made to the region’s aspiring and deserving candidates.
