In the 2024 Budget, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman underscored the pivotal role of tourism in bolstering India’s cultural heritage and economic growth. She introduced a strategic vision to elevate India’s status as a leading global tourist destination, aiming to generate employment and create new opportunities across various sectors.

Sitharaman emphasized the spiritual significance of the Vishnupath temple in Gaya and the Mahabodhi temple in Bodhgaya. Plans are underway to develop these sites into world-class tourist attractions, inspired by the successful Kashi Vishwanath corridor project. This initiative seeks to enhance the visitor experience and highlight the spiritual depth of these locations.
