Following the announcement of election results, the Union Cabinet led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has proposed the dissolution of the 17th Lok Sabha. This marks the final session of the Modi 2.0 cabinet and council of ministers. The tenure of the current 17th Lok Sabha concludes on June 16th.

In a meeting held at PM Modi’s residence at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, several Union Ministers, including Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh, participated in what is likely the last gathering of the Modi 2.0 cabinet. The BJP secured 240 seats, and the NDA achieved a clear majority in the 543-member house, while the principal opposition party, Congress, bagged 99 seats.

Both political blocs, the BJP-led NDA and the Opposition INDIA, are set to hold meetings today to strategize their future political actions. The NDA leaders are scheduled to meet at Prime Minister Modi’s residence at 3:30 p.m., while Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge announced on social media platform X that the INDIA bloc leaders will convene around 6 p.m. in the national capital.

In related news, Smriti Irani made her first public statement after her surprising defeat in Amethi to KL Sharma, stating, “Relationships with sisters end only with death.” The 17th Lok Sabha’s term officially ends on June 16th, with the newly elected representatives set to form the 18th Lok Sabha shortly after.
