New Delhi:

Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood on Sunday announced plans to organise large-scale Yoga Day programmes across Janakpuri and extend support to local sports clubs while leading a cycle rally aimed at promoting fitness and environmental awareness.

Participating in the “Pedal the Beat – Sunday on Cycle” campaign in Janakpuri, Sood encouraged residents, especially young people, to incorporate cycling and other physical activities into their daily lives.

The rally witnessed participation from local residents, fitness enthusiasts, women and senior citizens. According to an official statement, the event commenced from SKV, A-Block, and concluded at CM Shri School in Janakpuri.

Addressing participants, Sood highlighted the multiple benefits of cycling, stating that it not only contributes to a healthier lifestyle but also helps reduce pollution and fuel consumption. He said the initiative is part of a broader effort to encourage fitness, environmental consciousness and sustainable living among citizens.

The minister also announced that extensive programmes would be organised across the area to mark the International Day of Yoga on June 21. He appealed to residents to participate enthusiastically in the celebrations and make yoga a regular part of their lives.

Sood further urged youngsters to establish sports clubs in their localities and assured them of government support for sports-related activities and equipment. He said promoting sports and physical fitness among youth remains a priority and that the government is committed to creating opportunities for greater community participation in sporting activities.

The campaign forms part of ongoing efforts to encourage healthy lifestyles and public engagement in fitness-oriented initiatives across the national capital.
