Shark Tank India Makers Breaks Silence On Deepinder Goyal’s Exit Controversy

Shark Tank India, an Indian Hindi-language business reality television series that airs on Sony Entertainment Television, is set to premiere its Season 4. This year’s panel will be missing Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal, despite the fact that he has already begun filming for the show and has one episode scheduled.

The controversy arose when news of  Swiggy, Zomato’s competitor in the food delivery business came out as one of the show’s sponsors. Deepinder Goyal also claimed that he had been kicked out of the show because of Swiggy, stating,, “The startup culture of India is too much about showmanship. I went there to set a different narrative, be real, and change how people perceive. I felt a moral obligation to go there. I shot for one weekend and gave my perspective. I, unfortunately, can’t go back because Swiggy sponsored Shark Tank and kicked me out, at least that’s what I heard.”

Responding to Goyal’s statement, Danish Khan, Business Head at SonyLIV, said, “Everything that comes in newspapers is not always true. We would love to have him at some point. One needs to understand that we have around 50 episodes, and there are permutations regarding the sharks’ availability. They are all busy running their organizations, and we get them to spend weekends with us. I won’t say much, but there’s no such thing as reported. Some sharks have been on the show for four seasons, and we hope to see them next time too.”

Aman Gupta, BoAT founder, also said, “Aisa kuch nahi hai (There’s nothing like this). I am the perfect example. I have not sponsored this show, and yet I have been on this show for the last four seasons. So, I will never say that the makers did this for money. I feel indebted that they chose us and made us sharks.”. I can vouch for it and give in writing that I haven’t paid a single penny. It is a beautiful feeling to be here, and I hope that it continues. Sharks may come and go; change will always be there—in fact, except for me. This is life.

In this new season of Shark Tank India, Viraj Bahl, Founder and MD of Veeba, will be seen as the newest shark, to which he added saying, “I am only happy. Deepinder gaya toh mere ko jagah mil gaya (Because Deepinder left, I got this spot). I can write a thank-you note to Zomato.

Along Viraj Bahl, some of the sharks featuring in the show would include Anupam Mittal, Namita Thapar, Vineeta Singh, Aman Gupta, Ritesh Agarwal, Peyush Bansal, Azhar Iqubal, Kunal Bahl and Varun Dua. Shark Tank India Season 4 will stream on SonyLIV from 6th January 2025.
