Hyderabad:
Addressing a public gathering, Revanth said that after his defeat in the 2018 Assembly elections from Kodangal, many believed his political career was over. However, he credited Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi for giving him an opportunity to contest from Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituency, where LB Nagar voters played a crucial role by providing a significant majority.
The Chief Minister alleged that previous rulers neglected areas such as LB Nagar, BN Reddy Nagar, Vanasthalipuram and Gurramguda, while development remained concentrated in select parts of Rangareddy district. He announced that the government is establishing an international-standard fruit market spread across 240 acres at a cost of ₹2,400 crore.
Highlighting environmental initiatives, Revanth said the government successfully protected 424 acres in Gurramguda and dedicated it as a National Park after winning a prolonged legal battle in the Supreme Court. He also defended the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA), stating that it targets encroachments on lakes, parks and drainage channels, not ordinary homeowners.
The Chief Minister stressed that unchecked encroachments have led to repeated flooding in residential colonies and vowed strict action against land grabbers, regardless of their influence.
Drawing comparisons with challenges faced by cities such as Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru, Revanth said Hyderabad must avoid similar problems by prioritising sustainable urban development. He reiterated his government’s commitment to rejuvenating the Musi River, clearing encroachments and improving water quality.
Launching a sharp attack on the opposition, he accused critics of obstructing key development projects, including the proposed Bharat Future City, spread over 30,000 acres. He said the project would feature extensive green cover, with nearly 15,000 acres earmarked for forests and ecological preservation.
Revanth asserted that the government would move ahead with both the Musi rejuvenation programme and Bharat Future City, despite legal and political challenges, and pledged to transform Hyderabad into a globally competitive city for future generations.
