Over 3,000 Afghan Migrants Return from Iran

According to the Taliban-led Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations, over 3,000 Afghan migrants have returned to Afghanistan from Iran. There were both voluntary and forced repatriations. The returns were a mix of voluntary and forced repatriations.

A statement released on Thursday on the social media site X (formerly known as Twitter) stated that 3,676 individuals of Afghan origin, both forced and voluntary, had returned to their homeland. The government led by the Taliban made this announcement.

Among them, 303 families were identified as in need of assistance and have been referred to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for assistance. This comes after over 4,000 Afghan migrants returned from Pakistan.

Salahuddin Ayubi, the Taliban-appointed head of the military hospital of Khaled bin Walid Corps, stated that they had treated 1,112 people and were still providing care to Afghan returnees.

Khalil Rahman Haqqani, the Taliban-appointed Acting Minister of Refugees and Repatriation, said in a statement that the health team has treated nearly 500 people since last night, according to a TOLO News report. Haqqani also said that those patients who could not be treated here were transferred to Nangarhar Central Hospital.

Returnees from Pakistan have requested additional medical centers, highlighting the importance of enhanced healthcare support for Afghan immigrants. This situation emphasizes the ongoing challenges faced by Afghan migrants and the complexities of managing refugee and migrant populations, as per ANI.
