Manufacturing at Noida-based pharma company halted, says Mansukh Mandaviya

Manufacturing at Noida-based pharma company halted, says Mansukh Mandaviya

In view of the reports of contamination in cough syrup Dok1, Max the manufacturing activities of the Noida-based pharma company have been stopped.

Taking to Twitter Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Friday tweeted, “Following inspection by @CDSCO_INDIA_INF [Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation] team in view of reports of contamination in cough syrup Dok1 Max, all manufacturing activities of Marion Biotech at NOIDA unit have been stopped yesterday night, while further investigation is ongoing.

As reports of children dying after consuming cough syrup Noida-based pharma Marion Biotech has come under a cloud. The matter is under investigation.

Meanwhile, a report has been brought by the company that why cases came from a single hospital in Uzbekistan.

Marion Biotech Pharma Company legal head Hasan Harris said, “We await the reports, factory was inspected. We have halted the production of all medicines. It needs to be found why cases came from a single hospital there. Our products also go to other countries.”

After getting the information a joint inspection was carried out by UP Drug Control and the CDSCO team at the NOIDA facility of the manufacturer, Marion Biotech.

The cough syrup company Marion Biotech is a licensed manufacturer and makes Dok1 Max syrup and Tablets for export purposes granted by Drugs Controller, Uttar Pradesh.

However, from the manufacturing premises, the cough syrup has been sent to the Regional Drugs Testing Laboratory (RDTL), Chandigarh for testing.
