During Sher Shah Suri’s reign (1486–1545 CE), Kutumba gained strategic importance, much like the rest of Aurangabad. Sher Shah, famous for his administrative reforms and the Grand Trunk Road, brought the region under his empire. After his death, Kutumba became part of the Mughal Empire’s Rohtas Sirkar (district), leaving behind traces of Afghan architecture that can be found even now.
