India reports 4,435 Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours

According to Union health ministry data updated on Wednesday, a total of 4,435 new Covid-19 infections were reported across the country in the last 24 hours, a significant increase from Tuesday’s tally of 3038 cases.

According to the ministry, this is the highest single-day increase in nearly six months. According to the ministry, India’s active Covid caseload is currently 23,091 with a daily positivity rate of 3.38 percent.

COVID-19 cases in India have been increasing in recent days, with daily new infections ranging from 2,994 on April 1 to 3,824 on April 2, 3,641 on April 3, and 3038 on April 4.

The total number of recoveries stands at 4,41,79, 712 after 2,508 recoveries in the last 24 hours. According to the union ministry, India’s recovery rate is currently at 98.76 percent.

India has administered 220.65 crore Covid vaccine doses as part of the Nationwide Vaccination Drive, with 1,979 doses administered in the last 24 hours.

According to the ministry, the weekly positivity rate is currently 2.79 percent.

In the wake of an increase in COVID-19 cases in India, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya stated on Monday that Omicron’s sub-variant, which is circulating in the country, has not resulted in an increase in hospitalizations and that there is no cause for concern.
