Have to pay for their deeds, says Kejriwal after Supreme Court verdict

Arvind Kejriwal welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision in the Centre-Delhi services controversy as “historic,” while blaming Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a 2015 directive by the Union home ministry claiming jurisdiction over services in the national capital. Kejriwal told a press conference that the Delhi government accomplished good work despite being thrown in the sea with his hands tied by the Centre.

The chief minister hailed the five-judge Constitution bench, led by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, for the unanimous decision in favour of the Delhi government and promised that the pace of development activity in the national capital will pick up significantly.

He said that “We gave a model of education to the country. The work will happen at 10 times speed it was happening earlier. Delhi will now present a model of able governance to the entire country.”

He further added “There will also be an overhaul of the administrative system. The entire system is rotten. We will create a system that is accountable and responsible towards the public.”

Kejriwal said he will also meet LG VK Saxena later in the day to seek his blessings.

When asked about the Anti-Corruption Branch, he stated, “The ACB is not with us, but vigilance is.” Disciplinary proceedings can be initiated against officers who do not work properly.”
