Following the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district that left a tourist couple from Rajasthan injured, the father of one of the victims has urgently requested the central government to airlift the duo to AIIMS, Delhi for advanced medical care.

“I request the Indian government to bring them from Srinagar to AIIMS Delhi and provide them with the best medical facilities. Arrest the terrorists and deal with them accordingly,” said Aslam Khan, father of the victim, in a statement to the media.

Recounting the incident, Khan explained, “My younger son and his wife had left for Jammu and Kashmir on May 13. They boarded a flight from Delhi at 6 am and were taken to Pahalgam by a tour guide. On their return in the evening, while they were heading to their hotel for dinner, two bike-borne assailants opened fire on them and fled.”

“The bullet grazed the face of Tabrez and hit the shoulder of Farah Khan. Tabrez underwent surgery last night, and Farah Khan is currently undergoing an operation,” he added.

The couple, residents of Jaipur, Rajasthan, were attacked in the Yannar area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday night. According to a police officer, “Terrorists fired upon and injured Farha, a resident of Jaipur, and her spouse, Tabrez, at Yannar in Anantnag. The injured were evacuated and rushed to a nearby hospital.”

The condition of the injured tourists was reported to be stable.

This terror attack occurred just days before the polling for the Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha constituency, scheduled for May 25. The Lok Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir are being conducted in five phases, highlighting the ongoing security challenges in the region.

The incident underscores the persistent threat of terrorism in the area, prompting calls for enhanced security measures and swift justice for the perpetrators.
