Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray raised concerns on Sunday, alleging that businesses and industries from Maharashtra are being “snatched” to bolster the economic strength of Gujarat.

Thackeray also expressed apprehensions about the potential displacement of north Indian migrants settled in Mumbai and surrounding areas, suggesting that they may be compelled to relocate to Gujarat for employment opportunities. Speaking at a public event for north Indians in the Mira Bhayander area, Thackeray urged caution, stating, “Most of you are assimilated with local people like sugar and milk. But be watchful, someone will add salt to spoil this relationship. Shiv Sena is always proud of its Hindutva, but it was never about hating other religions.”

Addressing the gathered audience, he remarked, “You came to Mumbai in search of work, you made immense efforts and settled here. Now, you will be forced to shift to Gujarat for employment.” Thackeray encouraged the chanting of “Jai Shri Ram” to counter what he described as “dictatorship.”

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Gujarat, Thackeray accused the government of diverting business activity from Maharashtra to Gujarat to strengthen the latter. He emphasized that while the development of Gujarat is acceptable, it should not occur at the expense of “snatching” businesses from Maharashtra.
