According to the authorities, a fire that started in an eight-story building in Mumbai’s Borivali on Monday resulted in at least two fatalities and three injuries. Glory Walphati, 43, and Josu Gems Robert, 8, have been named as the deceased by the fire department. According to BJP MLA Sunil Rane, the police and fire department are looking into how the fire started.
“After the fire broke out on the first floor, smoke spread up to six-seven floors, due to which a lot of damage occurred in the building…The police and fire brigade are investigating how the fire broke out. We are continuously in contact with them,” BJP MLA said.
The fire was reported at around 12.27 pm in a flat on the first floor of the building in Sai Baba Nagar. It soon spread to the electric wiring and installations on that floor, according to officials.
