S Jaishankar, the External Affairs Minister, cast his vote Saturday morning at a polling station in the national capital. He encouraged a strong voter turnout in the ongoing sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections, which commenced earlier today. Jaishankar was among the earliest voters at his assigned polling booth.

“Cast my vote in New Delhi this morning. Urge all voting today to turnout in record numbers and vote in this sixth phase of the elections,” he posted on X, with a picture of him sharing his inked finger.

The Minister expressed his confidence in Delhi voters supporting the Modi government and the concept of a developed India.

“We have just cast our vote and I was the first male voter in this booth. We want people to come out and cast their votes as this is a decisive moment for the country,” he said.
“I believe that the voters in Delhi will once again support Viksit Bharat and the Modi government,” he stated.

In an interview with ANI on Friday, Jaishankar expressed confidence in BJP’s significant progress in southern states while strengthening its presence in northern states. Dismissing opposition claims of BJP’s limited success with the phrase ‘Dakshin mein saaf aur uttar mein half’ (clean sweep in the south and half in the north), Jaishankar emphasized the Modi government’s anticipated return with a larger majority.

Regarding BJP’s ‘400 paar’ (crossing 400 seats) slogan, Jaishankar acknowledged its ambitious nature but noted that it’s backed by substantial calculations, not mere rhetoric.

Polling commenced early today for the sixth phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, covering 58 parliamentary constituencies across six states and two Union Territories (UTs) with stringent security measures in place.

This phase encompasses eight seats in Bihar, the entire 10 seats in Haryana, one seat in Jammu and Kashmir, four seats in Jharkhand, all seven seats in Delhi, six seats in Odisha, 14 seats in Uttar Pradesh, and eight seats in West Bengal. A total of 889 candidates are vying for these constituencies.
