In the 2024 election, President-elect Donald Trump defeated Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. He won 295 electoral votes, while Harris received 226. As a result, Trump will now serve a second, non-consecutive term, a rare feat in U.S. history. Only Grover Cleveland has achieved this before, back in the 19th century. Trump’s first term spanned from 2016 to 2020. Following his win, Trump promptly revealed his top picks for the new administration. First, he selected Congressman Matt Gaetz as Attorney General. Next, he appointed Senator Marco Rubio as Secretary of State. Additionally, he named former Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence (DNI).

Matt Gaetz Chosen as Attorney General

For Attorney General, Trump nominated Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz. “It is my Great Honor to announce that Congressman Matt Gaetz, of Florida, is hereby nominated to be The Attorney General of the United States,” Trump stated. Notably, Trump praised Gaetz’s legal expertise from his time at William & Mary College of Law. Furthermore, he highlighted Gaetz’s commitment to reforming the Department of Justice.

Trump emphasized the need for Gaetz’s focus on justice issues. “Few issues in America are more important than ending the partisan Weaponization of our Justice System,” Trump said. He added, “Matt will end the Weaponized Government, protect our Borders, dismantle Criminal Organizations, and restore Americans’ badly shattered Faith and Confidence in the Justice Department.”

Marco Rubio Appointed as Secretary of State

Moreover, Trump appointed Senator Marco Rubio as Secretary of State. In announcing this, Trump commended Rubio’s leadership and dedication to freedom. “It is my Great Honor to announce that Senator Marco Rubio, of Florida, is hereby nominated to be The United States Secretary of State,” Trump said. According to Trump, Rubio is a “Highly Respected Leader” and a “powerful Voice for Freedom” who will support the U.S. and its allies.

In response, Rubio expressed gratitude for Trump’s confidence. “Leading the US Department of State is a tremendous responsibility, and I am honoured by the trust President Trump has placed in me,” he said. He also promised to uphold Trump’s foreign policy. “Under the leadership of President Trump, we will deliver peace through strength and always put the interests of Americans and America above all else,” Rubio added.

Tulsi Gabbard Named as Director of National Intelligence

Finally, Trump nominated former Congresswoman and Lieutenant Colonel Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence (DNI). He acknowledged her two decades of dedication to the nation. “I am pleased to announce that former Congresswoman, Lieutenant Colonel Tulsi Gabbard, will serve as Director of National Intelligence (DNI). For over two decades, Tulsi has fought for our Country and the Freedoms of all Americans,” Trump stated.

Furthermore, Trump emphasized Gabbard’s bipartisan support and her recent switch to the Republican Party. “Tulsi will bring the fearless spirit that has defined her illustrious career to our Intelligence Community,” he said. He concluded, “She will champion our Constitutional Rights and secure Peace through Strength. Tulsi will make us all proud!”
