The Tripura Chakma Students’ Association (TCSA) has expressed deep concern over the alleged attacks on minorities in Bangladesh, specifically targeting tribal communities such as Hindus and Buddhists. In a public statement issued on Saturday, the TCSA called upon Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene and ensure protection for these vulnerable groups.

According to the association, violence has escalated in Bangladesh, leading to widespread destruction. Amitab Chakma, a prominent social activist, described the severity of the situation, highlighting that 79 people have been killed and over a hundred homes have been set ablaze. Many women and children, fearing for their lives, have taken refuge in nearby forests. Chakma emphasized that the current Bangladeshi government has failed to control the violence, urging India and the global community to act swiftly.

The TCSA has made several urgent demands, including the incorporation of the Chittagong Hill Tracts into India, an end to the persecution of tribal and Hindu communities, and accountability for the atrocities, with calls for capital punishment for those involved in the massacre. They also urged the Bangladesh government to rebuild the destroyed Buddhist and Hindu temples.

In response to the unrest, the Bangladesh Army issued an appeal for peace, cautioning that tensions in the region could escalate into widespread riots. The Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) emphasized the importance of maintaining harmony in the three hill districts and assured that a proper investigation would be conducted to bring the perpetrators to justice.
