Triptii Dimri gained significant recognition for her role in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal. However, the actress faced intense backlash for her bold, intimate scenes with Ranbir Kapoor in the film. Recently, she shared her thoughts on the criticism during an interview with Ranveer Allahbadia.
In the discussion, Triptii recalled how the harsh criticism affected her emotionally, stating that some comments on social media were particularly cruel. She expressed, “Roti thi because dimaag khraab hogaya tha ke kya likh rahe hain log” (I would cry because I got mad thinking what people were writing). She revealed that she cried for three days due to the negative feedback.
Her sister played a crucial role in helping her cope with the backlash, encouraging her to take ownership of her journey and avoid dwelling on negativity. Triptii remarked, “Sometimes, crying is the body’s way of telling you to release your trauma.”
Reflecting on her experience, she acknowledged that her role in Animal brought both increased opportunities and scrutiny. Although she appreciates the global love and career prospects, she admitted that facing criticism was a new challenge for her. She noted, “There was no criticism before Animal, but I suppose that’s the side effect of being in a mainstream film.”
Despite the backlash, Animal proved to be a blockbuster, grossing ₹900 crore at the box office. In contrast, her subsequent film, Bad Newzz, did not perform well at the box office. Looking ahead, Triptii will star opposite Rajkummar Rao in Vicky Aur Vidya Ka Woh Waala Video, which is set to release alongside Alia Bhatt’s Jigra on October 11. She also has Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 in the works, featuring Vidya Balan and Kartik Aaryan.
