Prime Minister Narendra Modi met rapper HanuMankind at the ‘Modi and US’ event in Long Island, New York, on Sunday. The gathering, held at Nassau Coliseum, was part of Modi’s three-day US visit aimed at enhancing bilateral relations.

Kerala-born rapper HanuMankind, real name Sooraj Cherukat, energized the crowd with his dynamic performance. Several videos of his set have circulated online. Afterward, PM Modi greeted him with a handshake, followed by a hug, and praised his performance, chanting “Jai Hanuman” before embracing the artist.

HanuMankind, known for songs like Big Dawgs, Rush Hour, Genghis, and Go To Sleep, is rapidly becoming a major name in hip-hop. The event also saw performances from singer Aditya Gadhvi and composer Devi Sri Prasad. Gadhvi, famous for his viral hit Khalasi, performed before a crowd of 13,500. Devi Sri Prasad, noted for his music in Pushpa: The Rise and Waltair Veerayya, also met PM Modi.

Indian expatriates from Tamil Nadu showcased the traditional instrument ‘Parai,’ while a group from Maharashtra demonstrated Mallakhamb, an acrobatic art form.

On September 22, PM Modi addressed a large gathering of Indian-Americans, emphasizing India’s progress and its significance to the diaspora. He called them “brand ambassadors” of India, adding, “You are the bridge that connects our two great democracies.”

After the event, Modi met with tech CEOs at a roundtable in New York and is set to address the ‘Summit of the Future’ at the United Nations General Assembly today.
