Tamannaah Bhatia’s Dance Number from Stree 2 Sparks Controversy During Teachers’ Day Event

Tamannaah Bhatia’s dance performance in the song Aaj Ki Raat from Stree 2 quickly became a fan favorite upon release, inspiring numerous creative renditions online. However, a recent video featuring kids dancing to this track during a Teachers’ Day celebration has triggered widespread criticism on social media.

What Was in the Video?

The controversial video shows a group of children performing on stage during a Teachers’ Day celebration. The backdrop features a banner commemorating the event, with an image of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, India’s second President and a revered teacher, whose birthday is celebrated annually on September 5 as Teachers’ Day.

In the video, the children recreate some of the dance steps from the original item number, with one child even dressed similarly to Tamannaah Bhatia’s character in Stree 2. The event was reportedly organized by a school in Assam.

Social Media Backlash

Once the video resurfaced online, it faced a wave of criticism from viewers, many of whom questioned why the children were allowed to perform to this particular song.

One user on X (formerly Twitter) expressed disapproval by saying, “This dance would not have happened without personal training by one of the teachers. All such programs are choreographed by school teachers. I believe that is the case here too.” Another user added, “This is such a shameful act from the organisers and parents who allowed this. What are we teaching our kids?”

A third viewer noted, “The failure here is at both ends – the schooling and the parenting!” Others expressed concern over the audience’s reaction, with one saying, “I am more afraid about the hooting coming from the audience,” while another called the incident “sickening.”

About the Song

The song Aaj Ki Raat is featured in the film Stree 2 and has been composed by the musical duo Sachin-Jigar. It is sung by Madhubanti Bagchi, Divya Kumar, and Sachin-Jigar, with the lyrics penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya. The track has become quite popular, but its inclusion in a school performance has raised questions about its appropriateness in certain contexts.
