A disturbing video of a chain snatching inside a Bengaluru temple has surfaced online, showing a thief snatching a gold chain from a woman during a pooja ceremony. The footage quickly went viral, drawing attention to the rising number of such incidents in the city.

Incident During Pooja at Ganesh Temple

According to India Today, the alarming event occurred at the Ganesh Temple in Shankar Nagar. In the video, several devotees were seated inside the temple, reciting prayers when the crime unfolded. An elderly woman, seated near a window, was the target of the thief. In a split second, the man snatched her gold chain through the window and fled, leaving the worshippers in shock.

During the attack, the woman’s head struck the window, adding to the trauma of the incident. Fortunately, she did not suffer serious injuries, but the terrifying experience left devotees rattled.

Police Investigation Underway

Bengaluru Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the chain-snatching incident. This is just one among several similar cases that have plagued Bengaluru recently, causing growing concern among residents about their safety.

Public Reaction to the Incident

The viral video sparked outrage on social media. One user commented, “The chain snatcher gives lifelong trauma to the family and the victim, all to make ₹20k for his booze and ciggs or weed that’ll last him for two weeks. The real thieves are the big jewellery makers and the police. Everyone knows the sentiments, but no one values them.”

Another user harshly expressed, “Thieves never change. They must have their hands broken to make it tough for them to steal.”

The incident has intensified the call for stricter action against such crimes, as residents of Bengaluru seek stronger measures to ensure public safety.
