Nestled in the district of Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, Bhedaghat is a place of stunning natural beauty that rivals some of the most famous tourist destinations. Known for its striking marble cliffs and lush greenery, Bhedaghat has served as a picturesque backdrop for numerous films, earning it a reputation as a top spot for boating and sightseeing.

The marble cliffs of Bhedaghat, which have transformed over time into majestic 100-foot-tall formations, stretch along a 5-km-long gorge shaped by the flowing waters. Rich in magnesium, these cliffs are home to the renowned Dhuandhar Falls and the Chausath Yogini Temple, which houses 64 statues of yoginis.

Historian Jayant Verma sheds light on the unique geology of Bhedaghat, noting, “Two rivers meet in this place, Narmada and Tapti. Both of the rivers then flow to the Arabian Sea. The stones which you see here are very unique. Millions of years ago, a volcanic eruption took place at this place. The lava that came from the volcano created these soft stones. Many people mistake it for marble but these stones are not marble.”

The cliffs, standing tall and majestic, are often described as magical, especially under the moonlight when they take on a stunning appearance. The area gained additional fame after being featured in the film “Dunki,” starring Shah Rukh Khan and Taapsee Pannu. Other notable films shot here include “Mohenjo Daro,” “Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai,” and “Bobby.”

Bhedaghat’s proximity to Jabalpur makes it easily accessible. The nearest railway station is Jabalpur, about 25 km away, while the Jabalpur airport is around 30 km from Bhedaghat. Visitors can enjoy boating in this scenic locale, with tickets priced at Rs 200 per person.

With its breathtaking landscapes and rich historical significance, Bhedaghat stands out as a must-visit destination in Madhya Pradesh, offering an unforgettable experience for all who visit.
