The National Center for Seismology confirmed a low-density earthquake with a magnitude of 3.8 struck Basar town in the Lepa-Rada district of the state of Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday morning.
The earthquake occurred on Wednesday at around 7:01 am, 58 km north-west-northeast of Basar, according to NCS. The earthquake occurred 10 km below the surface of the earth.
“Earthquake of Magnitude: 3.8, Occurred on November 23, 2022, 07:01:40 IST, Lat: 28.43 and Long: 94.37, Depth: 10 Km, Location: 58km NNW of Basar, Arunachal Pradesh, India,” NCS said in a tweet.
In the early hours of Wednesday, an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.6 on the Richter Scale was felt close to Nashik in Maharashtra.
According to the NCS, the earth’s tectonic plates began to shift approximately 4 a.m. in a region 89 kilometres west of Nashik. The earthquake occurred 5 kilometres below the surface of the earth.
