A birthday celebration took a violent turn when a mob attacked college students over a parking dispute at Oasis Garden farmhouse in Gurgaon on Friday night. Praveen, the owner, lost his life while attempting to intervene, and Gajendra from Delhi Technical University (DTU) also succumbed to injuries.
The altercation started as college students were leaving the birthday party. After the celebration, the students booked several cabs to go home, lining them up in front of the farmhouse for pick-up. A car with three locals inside approached from behind. The youths in the car asked the students boarding the cabs to make way for their vehicle, leading to an argument. The car eventually drove off.
Later, the youths returned with a group of locals and attacked the students with sticks and iron rods. The students ran back to the farmhouse, but the group stormed inside and continued to assault them. Praveen, who had leased the farmhouse for organizing events and was present there, called his partner for help. The attackers brutally assaulted him and another person, Gajender, before leaving.
A police team arrived at the scene, taking the injured to a private hospital in Badshapur. Praveen and Gajender were admitted to the ICU. Praveen succumbed to his injuries, while Gajender was transferred to AIIMS Delhi and put on ventilator support. Police arrested two of the accused.
