Tragedy In Jordan: Fire At Elderly Care Centre Leaves Six Dead, Dozens Injured

A devastating fire broke out on early Friday at a private elderly care facility in Amman, Jordan, resulting in the deaths of six residents and critically injuring five others, according to Social Development Minister Wafa Bani Mustafa.

The blaze erupted on the first floor of the White Family Association’s centre, which houses 111 residents. In addition to the fatalities, the health ministry reported 66 people were injured, primarily suffering from burns and inhalation injuries. Eleven of the injured were admitted to intensive care units in government hospitals.

Authorities swiftly responded by evacuating the remaining residents to other care facilities, ensuring their safety following the tragedy. The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed, and investigations are ongoing.

The incident highlights the risks faced by care facilities, prompting calls for heightened safety measures to protect vulnerable populations.
