US President Donald Trump on Saturday announced he is preparing for an international visit, possibly to Saudi Arabia or the UK. Speaking aboard Air Force One, Trump said he usually visits the UK, but a trip to Saudi Arabia was also possible.
Trump’s last visit to Saudi Arabia was marked by a $50 billion trade agreement involving military and agricultural equipment, a deal he said he would be open to repeating if offered again.
Trump Praises UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer
Additionally, Trump talked about his relationship with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. He stated that there is a good relationship, yet their opinion differs politically. The US President said that he would call Starmer over the weekend because they respect each other despite differing opinions. Trump praised Starmer, saying that he represents the UK well and that he is a “very good person.” The phone call is likely to improve their political relationship.
Trump Reiterates Intent to Buy Greenland
In addition, the US president discussed his much-discussed aspirations to purchase Greenland, stating that the locals “want to be with us.” Following a tense discussion with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, he defended his position, describing it as “a very unfriendly act” if Denmark prevented the United States from owning Greenland. He claimed that Denmark had abused the Greenlanders and defended the idea as a means of defending the free globe.
Trump asserts that the goal of his broader foreign policy agenda—which includes his bold statements regarding Greenland—is to strengthen US influence globally. Despite opposition, he insists that the acquisition would benefit both Greenland and the United States.
