New Delhi: A fresh twist has emerged in the murder case of Pune-based businessman Ketan Agarwal, with investigators now probing whether his fiancée, Siya Goyal, allegedly killed him to secure “three years of freedom” before marrying her lover, Chetan Chaudhary.

According to sources, Chetan had asked Siya to wait for at least three years before marriage as he wanted to settle in his career. However, Siya’s wedding with Ketan had already been fixed for November. Investigators believe Siya and Chetan allegedly conspired to kill Ketan so that her marriage would be stalled, allowing her to live independently while Chetan focused on his career.

The probe has also revealed that the two had allegedly begun planning the murder as early as February this year. Police officials said Siya and Chetan had searched online for ways to kill Ketan and had even visited Lohagad Fort near Pune before the incident to rehearse the crime. They also allegedly practised possible responses in case they were questioned by police.

Earlier, investigators found that Siya and Chetan had deleted their phone chats and cleared recycle bins before and after the crime. Their mobile phones have been sent to a forensic laboratory to recover deleted data.

According to the case details, Siya first took Ketan to the fort on June 14 and allegedly pushed him into the valley. However, he survived after grabbing a bush on the cliffside. To divert suspicion, Siya reportedly screamed about a fake snake sighting and hugged him.

She later convinced Ketan to return to the fort, this time with Chetan also present. The pair then allegedly pushed him from behind into the gorge, leading to his death.

Case files further suggest that the accused had prepared a “plan C” in case their earlier attempts failed.
