New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra moved to the top of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 run-scorers list after forcing Mohammed Shami for a single in the third over of the final against India on Sunday. In doing so, he overtook England’s Ben Duckett (226) to become the tournament’s top run-getter.
Duckett and Joe Root are at second and third places, but with England out of the race, India’s Virat Kohli (217 runs) is the nearest rival. Kohli will surpass Ravindra if he scores a fifty in the last match to win the coveted Golden Bat award.
Rachin Ravindra Falls Early After Breaking Record
Unlike in the earlier performances, Ravindra could not turn his beginning into a large score in the finale. He started the game at 226 runs and could score only 37 runs before he was dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav’s exceptional googly off the very first ball of the 11th over. His wicket proved to be a major breakthrough for India, as he had been responsible for providing New Zealand with good starts throughout the series.

Rohit Sharma Loses 12th Straight Toss
Earlier, New Zealand skipper Mitchell Santner had won the toss and decided to bat first. The Kiwis made a forced replacement, with Nathan Smith coming in for the injured Matt Henry. India, however, played the same XI for the decider.
In a strange run, India’s skipper Rohit Sharma lost the toss for the 12th time in a row in ODIs. Unfazed by this, he insisted on concentrating on performance and not the toss.
