Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leaving for a four-day trip to France and the United States today. The visit would be marked by high level talks with French President Emmanuel Macron and US President Donald Trump, who would be pressing for building India’s international tie.

Before leaving for abroad, Prime Minister Modi delivered a statement ahead of his journey and said, “Over the next few days, I will be in France and the USA to take part in various programmes.”

He also went on to include participation in major events in the list such as the AI Action Summit at France, of which India is co-chair.

AI Summit and Reinforcing India-France Ties

PM Modi will attend the AI Action Summit at the invitation of President Macron from February 10-12 in France. The Prime minister will co-chair this important summit to take into account decisions that shape the future of artificial intelligence. Beyond this summit, PM Modi will discuss India-France relations with President Macron to further strengthen these ties. “In France, I will be taking part in the AI Action Summit, where India is the co-chair. I will be holding talks with President @EmmanuelMacron towards strengthening India-France relations. We will also be going to Marseille to inaugurate a Consulate there,” said PM Modi in his address.

The visit highlights India’s growing role in the AI sector and its commitment to international collaboration on technological advancements.

India-USA Relations: Meeting President Trump

Ending his visit to France, PM Modi will head towards Washington DC between February 12-14. He expressed an eagerness to meet newly-sworn-in US President Donald Trump. “I look forward to meeting President Donald Trump. This visit will further cement India-USA friendship,” said Modi. This visit is going to mark the first meeting between the two leaders in the flesh since Donald Trump’s re-election and second term inauguration.

India and the United States have maintained a long time partnership. Previously, Modi was to the United States in June 2017, and earlier this year hosted Trump in February 2020. The leaders have also telephoned twice since November 2024 regarding several global matters.

Key Points for the Visit of Modi to the US
