OSLO – Norway’s Prime Minister, Jonas Gahr Stoere, voiced worries on Monday regarding billionaire Elon Musk’s participation in political affairs outside the U. S. Musk, recognized for his strong connections with U. S. President-elect Donald Trump, endorsed a German anti-immigration and anti-Islam political party prior to Germany’s national elections in February. He has also recently shared his views on British politics.
Stoere mentioned to Norwegian public broadcaster NRK, “I find it troubling that a person with vast access to social media and significant financial resources involves himself so directly in the internal matters of other nations. ” He continued, “This is not how relations should function between democracies and allies. ”
Stoere asserted that if Musk were to participate in Norwegian politics, the country’s politicians should come together in rejecting such attempts.
Musk, the richest individual in the world, donated over $250 million to support Trump’s election effort and has been named by Trump as a special adviser for reducing the federal budget.
Recently, the German government accused Musk, who owns the social media platform X and serves as CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, of trying to influence Germany’s forthcoming election with a guest column for Welt am Sonntag. German Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck condemned Musk’s backing of Germany’s far-right Alternative for Germany, labeling it a “logical and systematic” approach to foster a weaker Europe that lacks firm regulation.
