Kejriwal Targets ‘Rotten System’ as FIR Filed Against CM Atishi

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi has been named in an FIR for allegedly violating the model code of conduct. This comes before the Delhi Assembly elections which is scheduled for February 5, 2025. The FIR was lodged following accusations of using a government vehicle for personal purposes. The returning officer filed the complaint after spotting a Public Works Department (PWD) vehicle delivering election campaign materials to an AAP office.

Kejriwal Responds to FIR Against Atishi

AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal confirmed that police filed an FIR against Atishi as she prepares to submit her nomination for today’s Kalkaji constituency. Reacting strongly, Kejriwal criticized the selective application of the law, stating, “Their leaders openly distribute money, sarees, blankets, gold chains, etc., get fake votes made, yet not even an FIR is registered. But an FIR is immediately registered against Chief Minister Atishi ji.”

He added, “Aam Aadmi Party is fighting against the entire system. This rotten system has to be changed and cleaned together with the people. Both BJP and Congress are part of the same rotten system.”

High-Stakes Kalkaji Contest

Atishi, the incumbent MLA from Kalkaji, is once again contesting the high-profile seat, representing the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Meanwhile, she faces a formidable opponent in veteran BJP leader and former MP Ramesh Bidhuri. Consequently, political analysts and voters are eagerly setting their sights on the Kalkaji battle, which is shaping up to be one of the most closely watched contests in this election.

Separate Complaint Filed by Kalkaji Resident

KS Duggal, a resident of Kalkaji, also filed a complaint at the Govindpuri police station regarding the alleged misuse of government resources. The returning officer directed police to take immediate action against South-East Divisional Executive Engineer Sanjay Kumar.

AAP’s Bid for a Hat-Trick

The AAP, which seeks to clinch a third consecutive term, faces stiff competition from the BJP and Congress. Having emerged as a significant political force, the AAP aims to replicate its earlier successes in Delhi and beyond. In its decade-long journey, the party has achieved national party status and expanded its influence to states like Punjab.
