Keir Starmer Unveils Four-Step Plan to Defend Ukraine

London [UK]: British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has urged European leaders to take decisive action to support Ukraine, emphasizing that “this is a time to act, not talk.” Speaking after the defence summit at Lancaster House, he announced a four-step plan aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s security and ensuring long-term stability.

Among the attendees were Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, French President Emmanuel Macron, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, along with 19 world leaders.

Starmer’s Four-Step Plan for Ukraine

Detailing his proposal, Starmer outlined four key measures:

  1. Continued Military Aid & Sanctions on Russia
    • The UK and its allies will maintain military support for Ukraine while increasing economic pressure on Russia to weaken its war efforts.
  2. Ensuring Ukraine’s Sovereignty in Any Peace Deal
    • Starmer stressed that Ukraine must be directly involved in negotiations to secure a just and lasting peace.
  3. Boosting Ukraine’s Defensive Capabilities
    • Even after a peace deal, allies will continue strengthening Ukraine’s military to prevent future invasions.
  4. Forming a ‘Coalition of the Willing’
    • Countries ready to commit will work together to uphold any peace agreement and ensure long-term security.

Financial Aid & UK’s Role in Ukraine’s Defense

Starmer announced a £1.6 billion finance deal to help Ukraine acquire over 5,000 missiles, reaffirming Britain’s commitment to its defense.

“Not every nation will contribute equally, but Europe must do the heavy lifting. The UK is ready to commit troops and air support alongside others,” he said.

Summit & Diplomatic Developments

Following the summit, Zelensky met King Charles at Sandringham, while Starmer dismissed claims that the US is an unreliable ally, despite recent tensions between Zelensky and former US President Donald Trump.

Starmer concluded with a strong message:
“We are at a crossroads in history. This is not the moment for more talk—it’s time to act, lead, and unite for a just and lasting peace.”
