India marks its 76th Republic Day with a spectacular parade on Kartavya Path in Delhi. For the first time this year, the chief guest is Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, along with 10,000 special invitees. Among them are the best-performing sarpanches of villages, Paralympic athletes, handloom artisans, and workers who protect forests. This showcases India’s glorious past and robust defense machinery.

Tableaux and Cultural Performances on Republic Day

Tableaux from 16 states and Union Territories, besides 10 ministries of the Centre, will also portray the theme ‘Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas’. More than 5,000 artists will perform 45 traditional dance forms in an 11-minute cultural presentation titled ‘Jayati Jaya Mama Bharatam’. The performance will cover the entire Kartavya Path so that everyone present is treated to the show.

Exceptional Flypast With Modern Aeronautical Systems

The flypast will contain 40 airplanes and helicopters belonging to the Indian Air Force and Indian Coast Guard. The list encompasses 22 fighters, 11 transport aircraft, and seven helicopters. Featured are Rafale, Su-30, Jaguar, C-130, C-295, and C-17, Apache, besides Mi-17 helicopters and three Dornier aircraft, which are featured by the Indian Coast Guard. The coordinated maneuvers are sure to leave the watchers spellbound.

A Historic Return: The Buggy Traditional

President Droupadi Murmu and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto will arrive at Kartavya Path in a traditional buggy, escorted by the President’s Bodyguard. Revived in 2024 after a 40-year hiatus, this iconic practice adds a regal touch to the ceremony.

Key Moments and Participants

Prime Minister Modi’s Tribute: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accompanied by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and the chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, will lay a wreath at the National War Memorial.


Marching Contingents: A contingent and band from Indonesia will participate, symbolizing the strong ties between the two nations.
Daring Stunts: Capt. Ashish Rana and Capt. Dimple Singh Bhati will command the daredevils of the Corps of Signals with remarkable skill and daring.

Traffic Plan and Metro Services

The parade will be allowed to move with minimum inconvenience by imposing restrictions on traffic on the route of the parade. The significant features are:
Parade Route: The parade will start from Vijay Chowk, and go along Kartavya Path, C-Hexagon, Tilak Marg, and other major roads before terminating at Red Fort.
Road Blocks: During the parade, entry will not be allowed from Vijay Chowk to India Gate on Kartavya Path, and also from cross-traffic to Rafi Marg, Janpath, and Man Singh Road will be restricted up until the closing of the function.
Metro Rail Service: During Republic Day, the services would remain active in all Metro stations.
