TMC’s all India general secretary Abhishek Banerjee will campaign in the Bhabanipur assembly by-election on September 18. The Trinamool congress is again starting preparations for Abhishek’s meeting on September 22 in Tripura. However, the main question is whether the General Secretary of Trinamool Congress will appear at the ED office on September 21. Already, Abhishek did not appear at the ED office last Friday by saying that there was a political programme.
Abhishek Banerjee is campaigning for Mamata Banerjee in the Bhabanipur assembly by-election. If all goes well, on Saturday, he will hold a private meeting with the selected voters at the Laxminarayan Mandir Auditorium, that is adjacent to the Bhabanipur Assembly. Large rallies, processions or road shows cannot be held in this by-election considering the pandeimc.
Just as Abhishek will speak to the voters in the auditorium of the Laxminarayan temple on the evening of the 18th and seek votes in support of the Chief Minister, and also there will be the arrangement of the dinner. Prominent people of eight wards of Bhabanipur assembly constituency will be called for the meeting. The Trinamool leadership is well aware that the commission will also keep an eye on such domestic meetings.
The commission may take strict action against the candidate if there is a public meeting on the occasion of campaigning. Therefore, this program has been held in the auditorium of Laxminarayan temple in ward 69, part of Baliganj assembly constituency adjacent to Bhabanipur. Although ward number 69 is part of Baliganj in terms of assembly, the auditorium of Laxminarayan temple is close to Bhabanipur. According to grassroots sources, MP Abhishek may want to ask the voters in the area about their plights.
Abhishek’s march to Tripura on September 15 and 16 was not allowed. A day after the Tripura Police refused to give the Trinamool Congress (TMC) permission for a “padayatra [march]” in Agartala scheduled to be led by its national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, the party on Tuesday applied for police permission for a procession on September 22.
The TMC pointed out that it had deferred the programme twice now, and said it would move court if denied permission this time too.
Trinamool All India General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee has been summoned to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office in Delhi again in connection with the coal smuggling case. He has been sent a notice to appear on September 21.
Abhishek was interrogated for about nine hours at the ED office in Delhi on Monday. 48 hours later, the ED sent him a notice asking him to appear in Delhi again on Friday. But a grassroots MP from Diamond Harbor told the ED he would not be able to attend. The notice was sent to him again on Saturday.
ED investigators claim that links between the two agencies have been identified in the coal smuggling case. It is claimed that Abhishek’s relatives are directors in both the companies. At the end of the ED’s interrogation on Monday, Abhishek challenged the central investigators into the coal smuggling case, saying, “If there is evidence, make it public.”
