Why do humans have this compelling need to get ahead in life? At times they do not even realize that they want to get ahead of whom and what. It’s just a rat race without any objectives or targets. And when it is a duel or competition how can we not talk about speed or pace?
There is pace and there is reckless speed. Regular pace helps you reach your destination on time and in one piece. However, reckless speed might make it to your destination before the expected time, but the probability of reaching safe and sound might fall down drastically and there can be consequences. Regular pace may be a tried and tested method which is sustainable, whereas reckless speed is a one-time affair. Being quick and getting ahead can be such a big carrot that people don’t hesitate to take it.
People do this not only on the road, they do it in business and in life too. I wonder about these brave hearts who are ready to risk everything for something more. Most importantly, they begin this journey believing their assumptions, which may not be accurate or realistic. They do not contemplate and anticipate what they might encounter on the way, but they just take the plunge. They also put fellow riders at risk who have entrusted them with their support. Now if this was your journey alone do whatever you wish but if there are pillions with you, then might as well think of their well-being too.
How valuable is this thrill in comparison to the lives, emotions, feelings and emotions of fellow humans, and sometimes of people you care about? There is a very thin line between passion and madness. Often, passion benefits those around him or her, whereas madness can hurt lives and hurt feelings beyond repair. Passion often turns into madness in the garb of Yolo (You only live once). But the same concept applies to others whose lives are being put at risk due to someone else’s insanity.
Our soul journey is not about cheap thrills, but about moving forward in life with a meaningful purpose. It can be fun to experience speed for a while, but practicing empathy and unconditional love is much more rewarding. Although it is an individual’s choice to write their own destiny. Hence wish carefully!!!!
