JAMMU, May 7: In a stringent disciplinary action, three Special Police Officers (SPOs) were dismissed from service on Tuesday for their involvement in dereliction of duty and violations of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district.
The dismissed SPOs, identified as Daljeet Singh, Bali Ram, and Deepak Singh, faced termination following the conclusion of two separate departmental inquiries initiated against them and other officials in 2023, according to officials.
Daljeet Singh and Bali Ram, who were implicated in a murder case registered at the Ramgarh police station, had managed to evade police custody. Subsequently, they were disengaged from service for their failure to fulfill their duty obligations, officials stated.
Additionally, Deepak Singh faced dismissal from service due to his involvement in a case registered under relevant sections of the NDPS Act at the Samba police station, officials further confirmed.
The dismissal of the SPOs underscores the administration’s commitment to maintaining integrity and accountability within the police force. Such decisive actions against personnel found engaging in misconduct or criminal activities reaffirm the authorities’ resolve to uphold the rule of law and ensure the public’s trust in law enforcement agencies.
The termination of these officers serves as a stern warning to others within the force, emphasizing the zero-tolerance approach towards any form of malpractice or violation of the law.
