This week has been a complete nightmare for Punjab. Five days ago, in Ajnala incident, Police was beaten and swords, guns were brandished by Khalistani militants yet Punjab Police is unable to file an FIR against them. On Sunday, two gangsters died in clash and one gangster got seriously injured in Goindwal Jail, Tarntaran. And today, three gruesome murders surfaced in three different areas of the Punjab. A Punjabi University student was allegedly stabbed to death on the campus here on Monday afternoon. Navjot Singh, a third-year student of Computer Science Engineering (CSE) at the University College of Engineering (UCoE), died after he allegedly received multiple stab injuries in the stomach. Another student received an injury on the head.
Officials on the campus said there were a number of outsiders outside the UCoE who got into a verbal confrontation which led to the stabbing incident. An official requesting anonymity said the student had suffered multiple stab injuries and was taken to the dispensary. “They shifted him to Government Rajindra hospital as the stab wounds had led to major loss of blood. He died during treatment,” said official.
University Public Relations officer Daljit Ami said, “The University has already collected CCTV footage of the incident and is submitting it to the police. The incident took place at around 12.15 pm. More than 20 students were present at the site outside the UCoE when a number of them got into an altercation. The student Navjot Singh suffered multiple stab injuries while another suffered a minor injury. He was taken to the Government Rajindra hospital.” Officials said the student was a day scholar. They said the reason for the stabbing was not yet clear. “The police department is investigating the case. SSP Patiala has also paid a visit to the University campus,” they said. In the 2nd case from Tarntaran, Former Congress leader Major Singh Dhaliwal was shot dead by a woman here on Monday, police said. Senior Superintendent of Police, Tarn Taran, Gurmeet Chauhan said the woman was related to Dhaliwal and allegedly killed him because of some personal reasons. The woman fired several shots at the Congress leader near a marriage palace owned by him in Sangwa village in the bordering town of Patti. Two bullets hit him and he died, police said. In the 3rd case, a young boy was killed over a parking issue in Amritsar. BJP Senior Leader Fateh Jung Singh Bajwa, said, “It is total nightmare for Punjab, CM Bhagwant Mann is playing safe against Amritpal, he condemned Amritpal when he saw there is resentment in public after 48 hours, yet there is no FIR. Three murders have happened in the state, gangsters died in Police custody. This is CM Mann’s failure and we have demanded President’s rule in Punjab,” he added.
