In a significant development, the Navi Mumbai police have initiated legal action against three individuals, including an MPSC aspirant, for their alleged involvement in exam malpractice during an MPSC Preliminary examination held at a center in Pune back in April. While no arrests have been made thus far, the case has been transferred to the Pune Police for further investigation.
The three individuals involved in this case have been identified as Akash Dhunavat, who was a candidate appearing for the MPSC exam, along with his associates Jeevan Naymane and Shankar Jarwal. According to the complaint lodged, Akash Dhunavat is suspected of using a concealed spy camera during the MPSC (Maharashtra Public Service Commission) Prelims exam, which took place at a center located in the Hadapsar area of Pune on April 30. Dhunavat is alleged to have not only obtained a copy of the question paper but also managed to acquire the answer key.
Subsequently, he forwarded both the question paper and answer key to Jeevan Naymane, who, in turn, transmitted this sensitive information to Shankar Jarwal via mobile phone. The illicitly obtained paper and answer key were also purportedly circulated among others involved in the malpractice, as confirmed by an official source. The police authorities suspect the possible involvement of additional individuals in this criminal act, which is currently under investigation.
A police officer from the CBD Belapur police station stated that a case has been registered against the accused under the Information Technology Act and The Maharashtra Prevention of Malpractices at University, Board, and other Specified Examination Act of 1982. Given that the incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Wanwadi police station in Pune, the case has been transferred there for further inquiries and legal proceedings.
