Three Bangladeshi women were arrested on Monday afternoon by the Government Railway Police from Agartala Railway Station for entering India without proper authorization.
Hasna Hena (26), from Satkhira; Kulsum Begum, 22, from Narail; and Swapna Akter, 19, from Chattogram were detained. Three women crossed the border without proper authorization and reached Agartala by train, planning to move to other parts of India.
The arrest was made after police launched a coordinated exercise involving Agartala GRP, the Border Security Force (BSF), and the Railway Protection Force (RPF). Women were arrested right from the station, and interrogations at the Agartala GRP station have now been undertaken by female officers to get more details regarding the case. Further arrests are suspected by the authorities.
A formal case has been lodged at the Agartala GRP Station, and the three women will be appearing in court tomorrow for trial. The police are analyzing the larger pattern of illegal crossing across the border and possibly some network through which such activities are being carried out while doing so.
