The district crime cell team arrested three individuals, including a married couple, in connection with drug trafficking cases. The accused have been identified as Sukhpal Singh and his wife Amandeep Kaur, residents of Sheron village in Saharanpur, Punjab. Inspector Jaswinder Singh, in charge, provided details, stating that the district crime cell team arrested three individuals, including a married couple, in connection with drug trafficking cases. Under the NDPS Act, a case was registered against the accused couple and another person at Police Station 36. The police received confidential information that the accused were involved in drug trafficking. Based on the information, a checkpoint was set up near Backside Road, CTU Workshop, Sector 43, where ASI Rajesh Kumar and police personnel apprehended suspicious individuals, including a woman. During the search, 22.03 grams of heroin was recovered from a bag. Both suspects were arrested at the scene. In the course of the investigation, Sukhpal and Amandeep revealed that they were husband and wife and had been supplying heroin to their customers in the Tricity area after purchasing it from various regions of Punjab. They have been involved in the illegal drug trade for the past 2-3 years. Sukhpal, who works as a labourer in Tarn Taran, and Amandeep, a homemaker, confessed to participating in the drug business to supplement their income. Sukhpal Singh has a previous record under the NDPS Act in Saharanpur, Tarn Taran district, Punjab. The crime cell team also conducted a search at Housing Board Light Point, where an individual was searched based on suspicion. During the search, 15.45 grams of heroin was recovered. The accused was identified as Lakhan Kumar, a resident of Indira Colony, Manimajra. A case was registered against the arrested suspect under the NDPS Act at Manimajra Police Station, Chandigarh. Lakhan Kumar confessed during interrogation that he had been involved in selling drugs for the past 10-11 months, purchasing heroin from various areas in Punjab and selling it in Chandigarh. He claimed to run a band company in Manimajra but was actually involved in the drug trade.
