"The wind is in BJP's favor": Nayab Singh Saini expresses confidence in party's victory in Haryana

As voting unfolds in Haryana, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini confidently stated that the BJP will secure a third consecutive term in the state. “The wind is in BJP’s favor, and the lotus will bloom in Ladwa by a significant margin,” he told reporters.

Responding to Congress’s assertion that they would win over 70 seats, Saini remarked, “No one can stop Congress from dreaming. They had similar hopes in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, but they need to reflect on their past and recognize how they have hindered development. The people of Haryana are aware of how they have disrespected Dalits.”

Earlier in the day, Saini criticized Congress for making unrealistic promises. “I urge the people of Haryana to vote in full. Under PM Modi’s leadership, we will continue to develop Haryana as we have in the past decade. The promises made by Congress lack substance, and they have lost the people’s support. Their intentions are clear: they aim to undermine reservations and are anti-reservation and anti-poor,” he stated.

This election is pivotal, with the BJP aiming for a third term while the Congress seeks to reclaim power, leveraging anti-incumbency sentiments and ongoing farmer and wrestler protests. Key players in the Haryana elections include the BJP, Congress, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and the pre-poll alliance between the Indian National Lok Dal-Bahujan Samaj Party (INLD-BSP) and the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP)-Azad Samaj Party (ASP).

The results of the Haryana Assembly elections will be announced alongside those from Jammu and Kashmir on October 8. In the 2019 elections, the BJP won 40 of the 90 seats, forming a coalition government with the JJP, which secured 10 seats. The Congress won 31 seats, but the JJP later exited the coalition.
